Which TV shows did you start watching in 2016?
Luke Cage, Poldark, and Breaking Bad.
Which TV shows did you let go of in 2016?
The Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon.
Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2016? Why?
Preacher (I actually specifically said that I wasn't going to watch this, but I thought I'd at least try an episode, and I didn't).
Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2017?
Cloak and Dagger, American Gods, Legion, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. That's a lot! There are also a couple old ones I plan to catch up on, again.
Which TV show impressed you least in 2016?
The Lion Guard. No hard feelings; it's just that the time is wrong.
Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2017 unless things significantly improve?
It's not a matter of improvement, but I don't think I'm going to continue with Supernatural after the five-season arc. Whether we continue with Poldark is largely up to Simon, since I could go either way.
Which TV shows do you think you’ll never let go of no matter how crappy they get?
Your main fandom of the year?
BtVS, MCU/Guardians of the Galaxy/The Defenders, and Pokemon GO.
Your favorite film you watched this year?
Civil War, Deadpool, Zootopia, Room, Threads, Doctor Strange, Finding Dory and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Your favorite book read this year?
Dracula, American Gods, The Silmarillion, The Scarlet Letter, Crime and Punishment, The Secret Garden, Covenant.
Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
Hamilton, OBVIOUSLY. Also, I developed a very sudden addiction to "You're Welcome" from Moana, which I haven't even seen.
Your favorite TV show(s) of the year?
Luke Cage, Doctor Who, Daredevil, Agents of SHIELD, and Agent Carter.
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Dresden Files, Hamilton, Pokemon, Deadpool, MCA Hogarth worldbuilding, and I'm at this very moment downloading the first issue of a new comic series I have high hopes for, called Animosity.
Your fandom that made an unexpected comeback this year?
Wheel of Time, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Studio Ghibli, Animaniacs, Firefly. The first three weren't actually unexpected; I planned those. The last three aren't really fandoms; they just made an impact of some kind on my year.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Saga had a particularly upsetting death. Daredevil made some dumb choices and didn't use any of the much better ideas that Taaroko and I had. Luke kissed women who were not Jessica. Agent Carter was cancelled. The kind old men portraying Shepherd Book and Maester Aemon freaking died. X-Men: Apocalypse and the comics of the same title.
Your fandom boyfriend(s) of the year?
Matt Murdock, Luke Cage, Daniel Souza, Ross Poldark, Alexander Hamilton, Shadow Moon, Stephen Strange, Newt Scamandar, Gerald, Nick Wilde. Chris Pratt.
Your fandom girlfriend(s) of the year?
Mrs. Jarvis, Claire Temple, Nausicaa, Wanda Maximoff, Elena Rodriguez, Karen Page, Queenie Goldstein, Dory, Jasiri, Agent 355, Doreen Green.
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailers. My niece interrupting my explanation of the legend of the phoenix to tell me about Princess Celestia's Philomena. The Thunderbird in FBaWtFT. My dolphin Patronus. The return of Drogon at the end of GoT S5. The new characters introduced in Civil War.
The most missed of your old fandoms?
It's not the fandoms I miss, it's the people in them.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Same answer as last year: if I like the thing, I'd like the fandom for it, but I don't have the time.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?
At the moment I'm not sure there's anything in the world that matters to me other than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but I'll try to look beyond that. Definitely Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok. Also all the TV shows I mentioned earlier. No books or comics in particular, since I don't read current, but I wouldn't complain if ol' GRRM showed some initiative. And I'm kind of hoping that for once I actually make it to a con.
